Annual sports competition held at DU Rokeya Hall

The annual sports competition was held at Rokeya Hall of Dhaka University (DU) on Monday .

In the competition, Sajeda Akhter, a 2nd year student of Bachelor (Honours) Department of Urdu has become the champion.

Ifrit Faiza Imi, 2nd year graduate (honours) student of the Institute of Disaster Management and Vulnerability Studies, was the runner-up.

University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the competition as chief guest at the central playground on Monday.

After the game, the University's Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Muhammad Samad distributed the prizes among the winners as the chief guest.

Rokeya Hall Principal Professor Dr. President of Dhaka University Athletics Committee Professor Dr. Zeenat Huda chaired the event. Emran Kabir Chowdhury, President of the Dhaka University Teachers' Association Professor Dr. Md. Nizamul Haque Bhuiyan, physical education center advisor professor Dr. Asim Sarkar, acting director of the center. Shahjahan Ali along with principals of various halls and resident teachers and students were present.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman said, 'A society and culture develops only when there is active participation of women as well as men in all fields. Referring to the contribution of noble women in the development of society, he said, Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnessa Mujib has set an extraordinary example by cooperating in various ways in all the struggles and movements of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, especially in the great freedom struggle, including the development of society and culture.

Under the visionary leadership of his daughter, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the country has achieved extraordinary indicators of women's awakening and development.

The Vice-Chancellor expressed hope that the students will participate in the competition with a playful attitude and friendly attitude, bound by the bonds of harmony.

Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Samad congratulated the winners and said, 'Students should do sports and exercise regularly to keep their body and mind healthy. Men and women should participate equally in decision-making and planning by developing talent.

He urged the students to develop themselves as healthy human resources to advance the country and the nation.

It is to be noted that besides the students, teachers, officials, staff and volunteers also participated in the annual sports competition of Rokeya Hall in total 22 events.
