Aman, Khokon and Sohel among 51 BNP men indicted in violence case

A Dhaka court framed charges against 51 BNP men including Amanullah Aman, Khairul Kabir Khokon and Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel in a case filed over vandalising vehicles and obstructing police in discharging duties in Bangla Motor.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Tofazzal Hossain framed the charges against them on Thursday.

The indictment marked inception of trial of the accused in the case filed for damaging vehicles at Dainik Bangla intersection in the capital five years ago. After framing charges, Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate fixed February 1 for next hearing.

Amanullah Aman is member of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s advisory council while Khairul Kabir Khokon and Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel are joint secretary generals of the party. All accused are on bail now.

In protest against arrest warrant against BNP chairperson on October 10, 2017, the BNP leaders and activists committed vandalism. They obstructed police in discharging duties and attacked cops.

The following day, the then Sub-Inspector Shahidul Islam of Motijheel Police Station filed a case against 13 BNP men including Aman, Sohel and Khokon.

The court asked the compliant of the case to appear on the next day of hearing.
