Md Mehedi Hasan, son of Surat Morol of Deara village of the upazila, held a press conference in protest against the suppression of the inciting suicide in Koyra.

In a written statement at the press conference at Koyra Upazila Press Club at 11 am on Monday , he alleged that , "A young man named Russell Hossain of Koyra village No.2 developed a love relationship with my school-going daughter Halima Khatun.

After knowing about the matter, I proposed marriage to the young man's father Didarul based on the opinions of both parties. After giving it, they demanded money from me.

I expressed my inability to pay and married my daughter to Mostafizur Rahman of Nakna village. Since the marriage, Russell and 2/3 others have continued to threaten my daughter through mobile phones in various ways, saying that they will not let her settle down in the family. He proposed my daughter to return from her husband and marry Russell several times. If she did not agree, at one stage she threatened to spread the previous photos and private videos of Russell with my daughter on social media.

My daughter requested Russell and their family members not to harass her. Even then, they did not give up. Finally, when my daughter could not protect her honor, Russell persuaded her to either return to him or commit suicide while she was talking to Russell on the mobile phone. On November 7, she committed suicide by hanging herself at my house.

Although the matter was incited to suicide, they are trying to cover up the incident. The administration has been sought for full cooperation to uncover the real incident through a press conference and take legal action through investigation.
