AL-nominated president candidate Shahabuddin calls on PM

DHAKA - Awami League (AL) nominated presidential candidate Mohammad Shahabuddin Chuppu today paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister and AL President Sheikh Hasina.
"Awami League nominated President candidate Mohammad Shahabuddin Chuppu paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister at her official Ganabhaban residence here this morning," PM's Assistant Press Secretary MM Emrul Kayas told BSS.
On his arrival at the Ganabhaban, Mohammad Shahbuddin Chuppu was greeted with a flower bouquet by the Prime Minister and Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's younger daughter and PM's younger sister Sheikh Rehana.
Earlier in the morning, the AL nominated former judge Mohammad Shahbuddin Chuppu as its candidate for 22nd presidential election.
The AL Parliamentary Party (ALPP) entrusted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina with the task of finalizing the nominee for the presidency at its meeting on February 7 at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban and she picked Shahabuddin Chuppu.
The tenure of incumbent President Abdul Hamid ends on April 24.
AL General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, AL Presidium Members Faruque Khan, Jahangir Kabir Nanak and Abdur Rahman, Joint General Secretary and Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud, Chief Whip Noor-E-Alam Chowdhury, Publicity and Publication Secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap, Office Secretary Biplab Barua, and Information and Research Secretary Dr Salim Mahmud, were present.
