Adamjee-Chasara road in Narayanganj has been in a dilapidated condition causing extreme sufferings to the people.

Due to lack of renovation for a long time, large holes have been developed in most places of this 12 km road. As a result, the vehicles traveling on the road have to suffer a lot. Passengers are also at risk.

It can be seen on the surface, due to the bad condition of the road, the passengers have to travel on the road with the fear of accident. Many times the passengers are injured by falling from the rickshaw. Vehicles have to dodge small and big potholes. Especially the condition of Siddhirganj Pool, Adamjee EPZ, Siddhirganj Thana, IT School Mor, Hajiganj, Khanpur, Chasara areas of the road is very dire. And the hole created in front of Hajiganj fort is so big that it looks like a small pond from a distance.

Due to which, starting from small vehicles to big vehicles have to take a lot of caution to cross this part of the road. Traffic jams are created due to slowness of vehicles while taking this precaution.

The people concerned say that the part of the road from Shimrail intersection of Siddhirganj to Pathantuli area is under Narayanganj Roads and Public Roads Directorate (SOAZ). And the part from Pathantuli area to Chasara area of Narayanganj Sadar is under Ward No. 11 of Narayanganj City Corporation.

Adamjee-Chasara road is one of the main roads for Siddhirganj residents to travel to Narayanganj city. Besides, DPDC office, Siddhirganj Silo, Siddhirganj Power Station, Adamji EPZ, Siddhirganj Police Station, RAB-11 Headquarters, Siddhirganj Telephone Office, Padma and Meghna Depot, District Commissioner's bunglow, 300 bedded hospital are located on both sides of the road. There is also garment factory.

Autorickshaw driver Masud Ahmed said that due to the condition of the road, even if the big vehicles can move somehow, it is difficult to move on this road with small vehicles. Most of the time auto rickshaws fall down. Many times passengers fall down and get injured.

A college student named Towkir Ahmed Omar said that the carpeting has come up in most places of the road and big holes have been created. So it has become dangerous for us to travel through this road. But as alternative roads are not easily available, it is not possible to come without this road.

NCC’s Deputy Assistant Engineer (Civil) Md. Mostafizur Rahman said, the work will start only after the budget is done. We will completely rehabilitate the road from IT school junction to Chasara.

Narayanganj Roads and Public Paths Directorate Executive Engineer Shahana Ferdous said that the road from Shimrail to Adamji area will be renovated very soon. All our processes are complete. Now I am just waiting for the budget. For now, we are renovating the large ditches created in Adamji area for a temporary period.
