Sunday (March 26) is Great Independence and National Day. Its memorable history day nation of Bengali. This day is celebrated with due dignity through various programs in Rajshahi as like all over the country.

With sunrise, the 53rd Great Independence Day program started with hoisting of the national flag in all government, non-government, autonomous and private institutions under the management of the concerned authorities, 31 gunfire at District Police Lines ground and wreath-laying the Martyr's Memorial in Deputy Commissioner's office premises.

Divisional Commissioner GSM Zafarullah, NDC laid wreath at the Martyr's Memorial at Deputy Commissioner's office premises at sunrise. Later, district administration, police department, various public and private offices and organizations, social, cultural, political and voluntary organizations paid tribute to the martyrs separately.

At eight o'clock in the morning, Divisional Commissioner GSM Zafarullah, NDC officially hoisted the national flag along with the national anthem at the Liberation Memorial Stadium. Later he visited the Independence Day parade. At ten o'clock in the morning in auditorium of District Art Academy, a discussion on "The historical leadership of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the development of the country in the Golden Jubilee" and the reception of the brave freedom fighters was held. The Divisional Commissioner spoke as the chief guest on the occasion.

In the discussion session, Divisional Commissioner said, Bangabandhu united the entire Bengali nation through his March 7 speech and invigorated the strong desire for independence. Inspired by his speech, the freedom fighters sacrificed their lives and freed this country in exchange of blood.

GSM Zafarullah said, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman announced the independence of Bangladesh in the first hour of March 26 before his arrest. He established Bengali rights through struggle against deprivation, injustice, injustice, communalism, discrimination and dictatorship. Therefore, March 26 is the day of freedom of pride and discipline for the Bengali nation, the day of flying the red and green flag in the heart of the world. Sonar Bangla is the day to get excited about construction.

Divisional Commissioner said that Bangladesh is moving forward at the speed of Durbar under the leadership of Bangabandhu's daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Our growth continues despite the global pandemic. We are 8th out of 200 countries in dealing with covid-19.

Bangladesh is a role model of development in the world today. Coming to the 52nd year of our great independence and coming to the 53rd year, we have achieved several glorious achievements. Our per capita income is increasing, we have entered the country of 100% electrification, we have achieved success in every sector of the country including the construction of Padma Bridge with our own financing. The new generation should build a smart Bangladesh by 2041 by utilizing their talent and thinking in the spirit of the liberation war.
