5-day TCV Vaccination Campaign begins in Tungipara

A 5-day orientation program has commenced in Tungipara, Gopalganj, to implement the 2025 TCV (Typhoid Conjugate Vaccine) vaccination campaign.
The program was inaugurated by the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), Farzana Akter, on Monday at 10:00 AM at the Upazila Bajrakontha Conference Hall.
The event was attended by teachers from various educational institutions, mosque imams, temple priests, and local community leaders.
Dr. Taslima Rahman, the EPI Program Manager of the World Health Organization (WHO), discussed in detail the importance of the TCV vaccine, its target age group, vaccination dates, and procedures. She mentioned that in the first phase, students from playgroup to class 9 (or equivalent) will be vaccinated at schools, while in the second phase, children aged 9 months to 14 years who are not attending school will be vaccinated at EPI centers.

Mohammad Tanvir Ahmed, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer, mentioned that the vaccination campaign will begin in all unions of the Upazila on September 1, 2025, and will run for 18 days.
The orientation workshop will continue until August 15, 2025.
