The number of diarrhoea patients has increased at Betagi upazila . The number of infected persons is increasing day by day.

There has been a sudden increase in the incidence of diarrhoea over the past three weeks.

A total of 450 diarrhoea patients have been admitted to Betagi Health Complex till the writing of this report. In the meantime, 441 people have returned home after treatment.

On the spot it seen thar 28 people have been admitted to Upazila Health Complex. On an average, 20-25 patients are coming to the hospital every day. Sometimes the number increases. Most of them are women and children.

Although there is no shortage of saline and cholera saline in the hospital these days, doctors said that as the situation is gradually increasing, a crisis may occur at any time.

People who came to the hospital for treatment said that people come to the government hospital for free treatment. No other medicine was available here but cholera saline and food saline were available.

Now, because it is not available in sufficient quantity, the admitted patients suffering from diarrhoea are suffering a lot. Many of the able-bodied are leaving the health complex and taking admission outside. But low income people have to suffer a lot.

A resident of Fultala village in the upazila. Mizanur Rahman (35) said, "After coming here, a saline was provided from the hospital.

According to the doctor's instructions, when it is over, I bought another saline from outside at Tk 360 and kept it ready. I can't say what will happen next.

Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer (Acting) of Betagi Health Complex Dr Mahamudul Hasan said, free use of canal water, change of season, consumption of spoiled food in summer are the reasons of the outbreak of diarrhoea.
