41BNP leaders get notice for contesting SCC polls

The BNP has issued show-cause notices against 41 leaders and activists, including the district unit Chhatra Dal president and general secretary, for participating in the upcoming Sylhet City Corporation (CCC) elections, disobeying the party decision.
The recipients have been asked to explain why organizational action will not be taken against them within the next 24 hours.
BNP Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi issued the notices separately on Saturday.
Sylhet Metropolitan BNP General Secretary Imdad Hossain Chowdhury confirmed the matter. He said the party will take strict organizational measures if the persons in question fail to give satisfactory answers.
The recipients are independent mayoral candidate Salahuddin Rimon, 36 people, including district Chhatra Dal President Altaf Hossain Sumon and General Secretary Delwar Hossain Nadeem, vying for general councillor posts, and four contesting for reserved councillor posts.
