
32 people killed, 29 hurt on same road in a month in Sylhet

In September, 32 people were killed and 47 injured in 29 accidents on Sylhet roads, according to the Accident Monitoring Cell of the Bangladesh Passenger Welfare Association.
A total of 504 road accidents occurred nationwide in a month, in which 502 people were killed and 964 were injured. 46 people were killed in 50 railway accidents and 17 people were killed in 13 maritime accidents. The total number of accidents stood at 567 and the total number of fatalities was 565.
Motorcycle accidents are high, with 191 accidents resulting in 199 deaths and 188 injuries. Dhaka division had the highest number of accidents (126) and fatalities (122), while Barisal division had the lowest number (22 accidents and 27 fatalities).
Among the dead and injured in the accident were members of the law enforcement agencies, students, pedestrians, women, children, transport workers, and people of various professions. About 772 vehicles were involved in the accident, of which motorcycles accounted for the largest share (29.01%).
The main causes of accidents are being hit by a car (48.80%)
