25 journalists named alongside deposed PM Hasina in murder case

As many as 25 journalists have been named along with deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina and 165 others in a case initiated over the murder of Md Fazlu in Dhaka’s Mirpur during the student-led civil uprising.
The deceased's elder brother, Md Sabuj, brought the charges with the capital’s Bhashantek Police Station on Wednesday, the station’s chief Faisal Ahmed said.
According to the case statement, 31-year-old Md Fazlu was killed when shots were fired at a victory rally taken out by the students and the public in front of Diganta Filling Station in Bhashantek following the ouster of the Hasina government on Aug 5.
Along with Hasina, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan, former law minister Anisul Huq; and former state ministers Kamal Ahmed Majumder, Mohammad Ali Arafat, and Zunaid Ahmed Palak have been named in the case.
It also implicated Awami League leaders Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Mahbub-Ul Alam Hanif, Bahauddin Nasim, and Mainul Hossain Khan Nikhil, alongside former IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, former police commissioner Habibur Rahman and former police officers Harunor Rashid and Biplob Kumar Sarker.
Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan and his son, the conglomerate’s Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir have also been named in the case.
The accused journalists are Naem Nizam, Monjurul Ahsan Bulbul, Shyamal Dutta, Farida Yasmin, Omar Faruque, Monjorul Bari Nayan, Sohel Haider Chowdhury, Quddus Afrad, Arun Kumar Dey, Jihadur Rahman Jihad, Abdul Majid, Sajjad Alam Khan Topu, Syed Shukur Ali Shuvo, Haider Ali, Alamgir Hossain, Mainul Alam, Zayadul Ahsan Pintu, Kabir Ahmed Khan, Nurul Islam Hasib, and Shahnaz Sharmeen.
According to the statement, Fazlu was taken to Marks Medical College Hospital adjacent to the shooting scene where the doctors declared him dead. He was later buried in his village home.
