200- year old market of people of 11 villages in Debidwar

Agarogram Market is located in Debidwar Upazila of Cumilla but there is no village called Egarogram.

This name was given because the people of 11 villages established a market together. The age of the market is more than 200 years.

In the last 50 years, the market has undergone extensive infrastructural development. Chhan Chani and bamboo fence shop is now a 5-storey building. 5 bank branches have come to the market. Dealers of different companies have come. According to sources of traders and buyers, Agarogram market was established in Mogsair village of Debidwar upazila. Brahmanpara Upazila is next to the market. People of 11 villages formed the market, but people of 35-40 villages of some upazilas came here.

Market traders are also from 30-35 villages. Calm and quiet market. There are some drainage issues. Increased police patrols will reduce the number of drug dealers and drug dealers at night. Buyer Kazi Kamrul Hasan Sumon, a resident of Egarogram, said that the meeting fair of people of 30-35 villages is held in this market. There is cordial relationship between the people of this area. All necessary products are available here. Demanding removal of market drainage problem.

Kabir Ahmed is a sweet trader in the market. He said, he has done business here for about 50 years. At the time of business, there were 77 shopkeepers in the market, now it has increased to more than 350.

At that time, there was a house made of bamboo and bamboo fence. Now there is a 5-storey building. Abdul Matin Master, the owner of the building in the market, said that he is now 70 years old. He has been doing business in this market since 10 years. He cannot specify when the market was established. But it will be more than 200 years. He called for the removal of some traders from the street of the market.

General Secretary of Mogsair Egargram Market Management Committee Sheikh Md. Maksudur Rahman said, once the people of this area went 20-30 kilometers away to market. Sometimes in Kasbar's cottage, sometimes in Muradnagar's Companyganj, Devidwar or Brahmanpara headquarters. People of 11 villages built this market together to reduce the suffering of the road.

There are good toilet and cleaning facilities. He said that they are also working to strengthen security. A large drain needs to be constructed to drain the water from the mosque to the east. We seek the cooperation of the administration in this regard.

Debidwar upazila executive officer Nigar Sultana said that we are trying to solve the crisis problem of various markets in the upazila. In the future, we will also work to resolve the crisis in the agarogram market.
