Five candidates of Awami League and one candidate of BNP have submitted their nomination papers for the post of chairman in the upazila parishad elections in Tangail Bhuyapur.

On Sunday (April 21), the candidates submitted their nomination papers to the office of Assistant Returning Officer and Upazila Election Officer.

Awami League chairman candidates are, current upazila parishad chairman Nargis Begum, district Awami League member Amirul Islam Talukdar Bidyut, upazila Awami League general secretary Taherul Islam Tota, Awami League leader Feroz Chowdhury and Jatiya Sramik League district branch secretary Md. Abdul Latif.

In addition, upazila BNP Vice President Md. Mustafizur Rahman has submitted nomination papers. Among them, Nargis Begum, Amirul Islam Talukder and Taherul Islam Tota are followers of the local MP. A total of 14 candidates have been elected for the post of Chairman, Vice Chairman (male and female) in the Upazila Parishad elections.

Apart from this, Awami League leaders and activists have also submitted nomination papers for the post of Upazila Vice Chairman (Male). They are the current vice chairman and member of Upazila Awami League Monirul Islam Babu, organizational secretary of Upazila Awami League. Ariful Haque Arju, General Secretary of Falda Union Awami League Khorshed Alam. Besides, freedom fighter Wazed Ali Khan has submitted nomination papers for the post of upazila vice chairman. Among them, except Birmuktijoddha, the remaining three candidates are followers of MP.

In addition, the president and current vice chairman of the Upazila Women's Awami League, Alif Noor Mini, the general secretary, has been appointed as female vice chairman. Sadia Afrin Khanam Lopa, District Women's Awami League member deleted. Hosne Ara Baby has submitted nomination papers. All these three are followers of MP. Besides, another person named Manjuara has submitted nomination papers.

It is mentionable that the last date for submission of 6th Upazila Parishad election is April 21, selection date is April 23, appeal is filed on April 24-26, appeal is disposed of on April 27-29, candidacy is withdrawn on April 30 and symbol allocation is on May 2. Voting will be held in the upazila on May 21.
