The 11th anniversary of the Dhaka University Criminology Department was celebrated on Thursday.

On the occasion, Professor Muzaffar Ahmed Chowdhury organized a programme in the auditorium.

University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman was present as the chief guest and cut the anniversary cake. Later, a colorful procession was taken out from the Faculty of Social Sciences building under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor.

Among others, the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences. Zia Rahman and department chairperson Shaharia Afrin were present.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman congratulated the teachers and students of the department on the occasion of the foundation anniversary and said that the department of criminology has been playing an important role in reducing the crime trend of the country and building a peaceful society through education and research. University Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Muhammad Samad as the chief guest among the winners. Zia Rahman and Chief of Police Criminal Investigation Division Mohammad Ali Mia spoke.

Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Samad congratulated the winners of various competitions of the cultural week and said that the history and traditions of a nation are revealed through various cultural activities including music, poetry and drama.

He said that the teachers and students of Dhaka University proudly led the various cultural and democratic movements of this country, including the historical language movement and the great freedom struggle.
