‘JK 1971’ wins Best Film award at Rainbow Film Festival

Bangladeshi film ‘JK 1971’ won the Best Film in the Feature Film category at the 24th Rainbow International Film Festival. The festival started on May 28 at the Genesis Cinema Hall in East London and concluded on June 4.

Another Bangladeshi film ‘Sataao’ received a Rainbow Film Society Special Mention while the short film ‘Tulika’ got the Best Film award in the Short and Documentary category at the fest.

45 films from different countries like Bangladesh, India, Iran, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, and China were screened at the fest. Five Bangladeshi films ‘Beauty Circus’, ‘Sataao’, ‘Damal’, and ‘Paap Punyo’ were showcased.

Robert Phillips, Jayashree Kabir, Pulak Gupta, Syed Anas Pasha, Zaki Rejoana, Sadek Ahmed Chowdhury, Syed Muqib Ahmed and Nadia Ali were on the jury board for this year’s festival.

The first edition of the festival was held in London in 2000, organised by the Rainbow Film Society.
