Workshop on Improving Quality of Primary Education held at DU

A day-long workshop titled ‘Draft Findings on Feasibility Study for the Pre-Service Teacher Education for Primary Teachers’ was held in the seminar room of the institute on Tuesday jointly initiated by the Dhaka University Institute of Education and Research and the Directorate of Primary Education.
Dhaka University Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Prof Dr. Mamun Ahmed inaugurated the workshop as the chief guest.
The program was presided over by the Acting Director of the Institute of Education and Research Professor Hosne Ara Begum and was attended by the Director General of the National Academy of Primary Education Farid Ahmed and the head of the research team Professor Dr. SM Hafizur Rahman as special guests.
Pro-Vice Chancellor (Edn ) Prof Dr. Mamun Ahmed said that primary education is the backbone of the education system. Dhaka University always encourages the organization of such joint workshops to improve the quality of primary education in the country. He expressed hope that this workshop will play a helpful role in adopting and implementing various education-related plans. He emphasized on further strengthening education-related research to move society and the country forward.
The speakers at the workshop emphasized on providing training before joining the teaching profession like in the developed world.
It is to be noted that the Dhaka University Institute of Education and Research and the Directorate of Primary Education are implementing this program with funding from the World Bank.
40 officials from various education-related institutions including the Primary Teacher Training Institute participated in it. Research and workshops will be organized on 8 topics in phases.
