UNO conducts 84 operations, machines, pipes destroyed in Goalando

Dead Padma in Daulatdia Union of Goalando Upazila of Rajbari
The upazila administration has been conducting a crackdown on illegal sand mining using dredging machines for the past few days in dead Padma at Daulatdia under Rajbari district.
UNO and Executive Magistrate Md. Nahidur Rahman conducted the operation in the river from 9 am to 2 pm on Friday.
According to the upazila administration, several gangs were illegally extracting sand from different places in the dead Padma River using engine-driven dredging machines and selling it. Based on secret information, the upazila administration, after getting information, conducted a raid on the river with an engine-driven trawler and destroyed 5 machines and a 100-foot pipe.
In this regard, UNO said, 5 big machines and 100 feet of dredging pipe have been destroyed for illegally extracting sand from the dead Padma using dredging machines without permission.
