Two people were killed in separate road accidents in Bandarban on Wednesday morning.

A man named Shamsul Islam (40) was killed when a sugar-laden truck overturned in the Manur Tech area adjacent to the Bandarban bus station. Three people, including two policemen, were injured in the incident. On the other hand, a motorcyclist named Hossain (33) was killed in a head-on collision between a truck and a motorcycle in the Sualak University area of the Bandarban-Keranihat road.

Police and locals said that a truck loaded with sugar was coming to Bandarban from Dhaka. When the truck reached the Manur Tech area adjacent to the Bandarban bus station on Wednesday morning, it lost control and overturned. At that time, the assistant driver Shamsul Islam (40) was crushed to death by the truck. Three people, including two policemen, who were in the truck, were injured in the incident. Upon receiving the news of the incident, police and fire service members went to the scene, rescued the dead and injured and took them to Bandarban Sadar Hospital for treatment. The deceased, Iqbal, is said to be a resident of Mymensingh.

On the other hand, a truck and motorcycle collided head-on on the same morning in the Bandarban-Keranihat road in the Sualak Bandarban University area. When the two riders on the motorcycle were seriously injured, locals rescued them and took them to the nearby Keranihat Hospital. The motorcycle driver, Md. Hossain (28), died while undergoing treatment there. The deceased Hossain is a resident of Sualak area of Bandarban Sadar Upazila.

In this regard, Bandarban Sadar Police Station OC Masud Parvez said, two people were killed in separate road accidents in Bandarban. Three people, including two policemen, were injured. The dead and injured were rescued and sent to Bandarban Sadar Hospital.
