
Two arrested in anti-drug operation in Betagi

Police have arrested two youths in an anti-drug operation in Betagi, Barguna.
Two people were arrested in front of the upazila council on Wednesday (August 13) evening. 50 yaba pills were seized from them. Another accused escaped. Police also seized a motorcycle used for drug transportation.
According to Betagi Police Station sources, based on a secret tip-off, a police team led by Betagi Police Station Sub-Inspector Apurba Kanti Das conducted a raid and arrested Shakil (28), son of Badal Khan, a resident of Ward No. 1 of the municipal town, and Russell Howlader (30), son of Abdul Jalil Howlader, a resident of Mirzaganj Upazila. A person named Muhim Howlader (21) escaped with them. A case was filed against them at Betagi Police Station on Wednesday night for the crime of consuming and selling narcotics.
Betagi Police Station Sub-Inspector Apurba Kanti Das said that two people were arrested and another person who was with them managed to escape after sensing the presence of the police.
