Salauddin Molla, an officer of the university's finance and accounts department, has been accused of shooting and killing Jagannath University's sculpture department assistant professor Zahidul Haque.

On Thursday (November 21), the teacher filed a written application with the Vice Chancellor to take action against those involved in the death threats. At the same time, he also filed a GD at the nearby Kotwali police station.

In his application to the Vice Chancellor, the teacher mentioned that Salauddin Molla, an officer who fled the country after the fall of the fascist Awami League government through mass protests, is currently in Australia. He called him on WhatsApp while abroad and threatened to shoot him.

The teacher said that he (Salauddin Mollah) alleged that I (Zahidul Haque) had threatened to break the leg of Md. Abdul Quader alias Kazi Monir, Deputy Registrar of Jagannath University Physical Education Center. He (Salauddin) introduced himself as an influential person of Chhatra League and Awami League and Threatened to see me.

Teacher Zahidul Haque said, "Students have been demanding his dismissal in recent times in view of various allegations against Mr. Abdul Quader alias Kazi Monir, including attacks and threats on students during the July Uprising, torture of students at various times, tender and recruitment business and extortion, sabotage in the second campus project, harassment and torture of teachers, students and officials. As a member of the Central Sports Committee, I went to inspect the game on November 12 during the "Jagannath University 7th Inter-Departmental Football Competition-2024" and saw Md. Abdul Quader sitting in a bus with Pushpen Sarkar (Physical Instructor, Physical Education Center) and several staff at the Dhupkhola ground. He was not kept as a member in any of the activities of the Central Sports Committee and various sports sub-committees of Jagannath University (JnU). When his presence on the field still created anger among the students, they informed me about the matter as I am also a member of the Proctorial Team (Assistant Proctor) of Jagannath University. I informed the matter to the current Proctor, Mr. Dr. Muhammad Tazammol Haque, over the phone. He advised me to ask Md. Abdul Quader alias Kazi Monir to leave the field to avoid any untoward incident. As per the Proctor's instructions, I went to Md. Abdul Quader and found that he had already left and where Pushpen Sarkar was sitting. Then I informed him about the Proctor's instructions and asked him to be careful about this in the future.

The teacher said, Md. Abdul Kader alias Kazi Monir, along with Assistant Registrar Md. Moynal Haque and Deputy Director Gautam Kumar Das, are responsible for exaggerating the incident and threatening me with death by presenting it to Salauddin Molla, who is a fugitive abroad.

In the complaint letter, teacher Zahidul Haque mentioned that since the threat maker Salauddin Molla is abroad, there is no way for Jama to report the campus incident to him if no one reports it to him, besides, the threat maker is not known to me and I have no personal dispute with him before. He threatened me with death on behalf of Md. Abdul Kader alias Kazi Monir.

In this regard, the victim teacher Zahidul Haque said, I have never had any contact with the threatening officer before. I do not even know him. Suddenly, he threatened me with death. Of course, Kazi Monir informed him. I had no personal relationship or contact with him. I have also filed a GD at the police station.

In this regard, Jagannath University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Rezaul Karim said, I have received the complaint. In addition, there are several other complaints against Salauddin. It is under process and action will be taken.

It is known that official Salauddin Molla left the country after the fall of the government. He was a former minister Dr. Dipu Moni's political associate. He had a close relationship with Dipu Moni as his village is Chandpur. He has been accused of making unsavory criticisms of the university's vice-chancellor, treasurer, teachers and students on various issues while he was out of the country recently.
