Muhammad Fakhrul Islam, a member of Jamaat's central working council and Ameer of Sylhet city, said that the fascist government has used the state police force as its own lathial force. Some overzealous officials of the administration showed a thumb to the law and human rights and killed the innocent students by firing indiscriminately.

They shot dead ATM Turab, staff reporter of Jalalabad Daily and Sylhet Bureau Journalist of Nayadigant Daily in broad daylight at the city's Bandar Bazar. The policemen involved in this murder should be brought under the law. According to the demands of the family, the journalist community should come forward to demand the installation of Turab Chattar at the place of the deceased. Apart from this, compensation should be paid to the families of students killed in past agitations including journalist Turab.

He said the above during a courtesy meeting with the family of martyred journalist ATM Turab at Jatarpur in Sylhet city on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the Jamaat expressed its condolences to the family of the martyr. On behalf of the Sylhet city Jamaat, the family of the martyred journalist ATM Turab was given financial support of Tk 1 lakh in the hands of his elder brother Abul Ahsan Mohammad Azraf (Jabur Ahmad).

Secretary of Sylhet Press Club Mohammad Sirajul Islam said that journalist society of Sylhet is united in demanding justice for those involved in the murder of journalist Turab. 7 organizations representing journalists of Sylhet are willing in this regard.

Abul Ahsan Mohammad Azraf (Zabur Ahmad), elder brother of killed journalist Turab, said, I demand to declare the place where my brother Turab was killed as Turab Chattar. At the same time, I strongly demand the government to take action against the policemen who killed my brother.
