Shakrain: The traditional festival of old Dhaka'

The traditional Shakrain Festival of old Dhaka is being celebrated with various arrangements. Many of man is known this festival as Kite flying festival.. On the first day of e two-days shakrain festival, kites of various colors filled the sky of old Dhaka. In the evening, the top floor of almost every house us decorated with lighting and others instrument . However, compared to other years, this year has seen some differences due to Corona.
A kite flying festival has also been organized by Dhaka South City Corporation to add extra joy to the event.
This festival has been celebrated by people of different walks of life in old Dhaka for almost 400 years. Young and old alike have been seen flying kites on the roofs of their homes. There are fireworks and sound system. The joy of dance and song goes hand in hand with the sound system.
The whole of Old Dhaka is in a frenzy of this festival. A few days ago, most of the alleys and open roofs of old Dhaka were surrounded because of Shakrain festival.
The 400-year-old festival is celebrated with pomp and circumstance. Although pithapuli was organized on this day earlier, it is now a thing of the past. However, with the touch of modernity, the present generation celebrates this day with innovation.
Like many ancient festivals of Bengal, Shakraim has lost its some beauty due to the influence of western culture. The scope of the Shakrain festival is shrinking. However, despite the change in the festive season, the amazement and emotion still remained the same as before.
