Press conference to protest mutilation of Jubo Dal worker in Mirsarai

Jubo Dal activist Manjur Hossain Sumon held a press conference to protest the mutilation of a Jubo Dal activist in Mirsarai, Chittagong, and to demand justice for the culprits.
He held a press conference at his home in Bariyarhat Municipality on Tuesday.

His father Mujibul Haque was present at the time. Sumon, reading out a written statement at the press conference, said, "I am a small worker of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party-BNP. I am currently in politics under the leadership of Bariyarhat Municipality convener Main Uddin Liton Bhai. The Bariyarhat Municipality BNP committee was announced on March 24. The members of that committee held a meeting with senior leaders at Liton's house on March 25 at 8 pm. In the meeting, it was decided that a goodwill procession would be held in exchange for something. Bablu Miyaji, Jasim Commissioner, Member Secretary hired terrorists from different parts of the country. With them, a procession started from Main Uddin Liton's house on March 26, Independence Day in the morning. Bablu, Jasim Commissioner, Anwar and Emon called me from my house for that procession. During the procession, Bablu Miyaji and Emon suddenly cut me in different parts of my body with sharp weapons and pulled out my umbilical cord. Emon cut my right leg and left with bloody wounds. Later, my relatives rescued me and arranged for my treatment. After a long treatment in different hospitals, my right leg was amputated, which left me paralyzed for the rest of my life. In addition, I am suffering from cuts in different parts of my body. Currently, I am holding this press conference at home and presenting the events that happened to me that day. So that the leaders of my nationalist party can know the real story. I demand appropriate justice from the state for everyone involved in this incident.
When asked about this, Bariyarhat Municipality BNP convener Main Uddin Liton said, "Suriman was our follower. He was injured in the attack by the opponent. We have the video of him making a scathing remark. He was sold to the opponent for a large sum of money."
In this regard, Upazila BNP member secretary Aziz Ahmed Chowdhury said, "His allegations are not correct. I have provided him with all possible assistance for better treatment at the hospital in Dhaka."
