Press briefing on various programs on first anniv of historic July Mass Uprising

On the occasion of the first anniversary of the historic July mass uprising, the Dhaka University authorities have adopted detailed programs.
Besides, at the joint initiative of Dhaka University and the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, a program titled July Mass Uprising Renaissance Festival-2025 has been organized. These programs were highlighted at a press briefing held on Sunday at the Professor Abdul Matin Chowdhury Virtual Classroom at the Administrative Building of Dhaka University.
The convener of the committee formed by the government to organize the July mass uprising renaissance festival centered on Dhaka University, Dhaka University Treasurer Prof Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, delivered a speech at the press briefing. At that time, University Proctor Associate Professor Saifuddin Ahmad and Committee Member Secretary Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs Md. Mizanur Rahman were present.
Dhaka University Treasurer Prof Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury informed that the university authorities have adopted detailed programs on the occasion of the first anniversary of the historic July mass uprising.
On this occasion, a central committee has been formed at Dhaka University with Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Niaz Ahmad Khan as the convener.
Besides, three separate sub-committees have been formed with Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Saima Haque Bidisha, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Professor Dr. Mamun Ahmed, and Treasurer Professor Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury as conveners.
It was informed at the press briefing that tomorrow, 14 July 2025, Monday, July Women’s Day will be celebrated on the Dhaka University campus. On this occasion, audio-video exhibitions, cultural programs, and a drone show will be organized. The Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, Dhaka University, and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy will jointly implement these programs. Tomorrow, 14 July at 6:30 PM, the July mass uprising renaissance festival will be inaugurated.
For the convenience of joining the event, the Shahbagh, Palashi, and Doel Chattar entrances of the university will be open to the public; however, no vehicles will be allowed to enter.
For the overall safety of Dhaka University students, from 4:00 PM on 14 July 2025 to 7:00 AM on 15 July, at the entrances of Shibbari Crossing, Fuller Road, Udayan School, and Nilkhet, no one other than students holding valid ID cards, members of the university family, vehicles with Dhaka University stickers, emergency service vehicles like ambulances, doctors, patients, journalists, and fire service vehicles will be allowed to enter the campus. During this time, university teachers, students, and officers-employees must carry their respective identity cards. On the occasion of the event, after 5:00 PM on 14 July, the Dhaka University Metro Rail Station will remain closed.
Besides, on 17 July, a memorial event of teachers and students will be organized. On 5 August, the July mass uprising day will be celebrated on a larger scale.
It was also informed at the press conference that on the occasion of the first anniversary of the historic July mass uprising, various programs have been ongoing throughout the month. These programs include: organizing one seminar in each faculty based on the July revolution and student-people’s uprising, separate discussion meetings/seminars organized by halls, departments, and institutes, organizing a two-day inter-department debate festival on the theme July Uprising: Voice of Youth, and organizing an essay competition for students on the experiences of the July mass uprising, among others.
