Police raid in Rupsha , foreign weapons recovered, 3 arrested

Rupsha Police Station conducted a raid in Doba village of Ghatbhog Union of the upazila and arrested three people with foreign weapons.
The arrested are Nipun Das (41), son of Nikhil Das of Doba village of Rupsha upazila of Khulna district, Nipen Mahali (41), son of Nikhil Mahali of Doba village, and Abhijit Mahanta (30), son of Manoranjan Mahanta of Notun Diya village.
At that time, 01 pistol, 01 ramda and 01 steel-made knife were recovered from the accused.
According to police sources, on Monday, July 21, at 7.30 pm, Rupsha Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mahfuzur Rahman learned from the local people that a person along with 3 to 4 people had beaten up pedestrians in Doba village by showing weapons. Based on the news, he reached the spot and investigated the matter and appointed a spy.
The next day, Tuesday, July 22, the police learned that the miscreants were staying in a house in the Narnia Beel, about two kilometers from Doba village. Based on the information, Officer-in-Charge Mahfuzur Rahman along with a group of police officers and officers from the Shiali Police Camp arrived at the scene and reached the road in front of Doba Government Primary School at approximately 08.50 in the morning. Seeing the accused with country-made weapons, they surrounded them with the help of the local people. At that time, they had country-made weapons, ramda, and knives in their hands. After conducting a long 2-hour operation, they were arrested along with the weapons at approximately 10.40 in the morning and brought to the police station. During extensive interrogation of the accused in the police station, at one point they confessed to having firearms with them, and foreign weapons were recovered wrapped in polythene in a tin house in the east-north corner of the Nipun fishing house in Doba Narnia Beel.
During police interrogation, the accused said that they have been collecting weapons from different places for a long time and keeping them with them and committing crimes in different places in the area. A case has been filed against them at the police station and legal action has been taken. Case No. 17.
