Panel UP chairman stabbed for not paying ransom in Rajbari

Miscreants have hacked and injured Habibur Rahman (38), Panel chairman of Shahid Wahabpur Union Parishad in Rajbari Sadar Upazila.
The incident took place at around 10:45 am on Sunday (July 13) in the Shahidwahabpur Union Parishad. The chairman was admitted to Rajbari District Sadar Hospital with injuries by locals. Habibur Rahman is the son of Abdur Rashid Sheikh of Ahladipur village in Shahidwahabpur Union.
While undergoing treatment at the hospital, Habibur Rahman said, "Some terrorists, including a local Al Amin Sheikh, have been demanding a ransom of one lakh taka from him to buy a motorcycle. When he refused to pay the money, 5 to 7 terrorists, including Al Amin Sheikh, Aqib, Shahriar, entered the council in the morning and attacked him with knives, Chinese axes and other local weapons."
Rajbari Sadar Police Station OC Md. Mahmudur Rahman said, "We have not received any complaint at the police station regarding extortion demands from Chairman Habibur Rahman. Legal action will be taken if we receive any complaint."
