
Outstanding contributions to protection of fisheries resourcers : Bangladesh Coast Guard achieves National Fisheries Award -2025

In recognition of significant contributions to the protection of fishery resources, the Bangladesh Coast Guard was awarded the “National Fisheries Award 2025” by the Chief Adviser.Dr Muhammad Yunus.
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Syam-ul-Hoque informed this in a press release on Monday noon.
The press release said that through regular operations in the country’s maritime boundaries, coastal and riverine areas, the Bangladesh Coast Guard has been playing a relentless and effective role in preventing illegal fishing, use of prohibited nets, conserving marine biodiversity, preventing unauthorized entry by foreign vessels, and raising public awareness. In recognition of these important contributions, the Bangladesh Coast Guard has been awarded the “National Fisheries Award 2025” for the second time.
At the inaugural ceremony of National Fisheries Week 2025 held at the Bangladesh-China Friendship International Conference Center, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the city the Chief Adviser handed over the Fisheries Award 2025 to the Director General of the Coast Guard, Rear Admiral Mohammad Ziaul Hoque on Monday.
The ceremony was attended by Adviser of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, senior military and civil officials, and representatives of various fisheries organizations.
The press release further said that, keeping in view the slogan of the Fisheries Week “Let’s establish sanctuaries, fill the country with native fish”, this achievement of the Coast Guard is considered a remarkable milestone in ensuring security and fisheries resource management in maritime, coastal, and riverine areas.
