For the fifth time, National Statistics Day is being celebrated on Thursday, Thursday. The government has decided to celebrate the statistics day on February 27 every year. The Statistics Act was passed in the National Assembly on February 27, 2025. On the basis of this Act there is a radical change in the development of statistics management. It is decided to commemorate the National Statistics Day every year. Statistics play an important role in the economic development of a country every year. That is, the importance of statistics in the preparation of the planned economy and setting the goals of sustainable development on the basis of accurate, reliable statistics is immenseThe importance of statistics is increasing day by day. Proper statistics have become essential for the planned economy, especially. At the same time, in the case of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the deficit of data and data is increasing due to the complications of obtaining accurate information. In this situation, today is National Statistics Day.

On 1974 August 26, the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) was established by four statistics agencies under different ministries. The importance of statistics was always. But now it has grown a lot. Because understanding the pulse of the country's economy is not an alternative to statistics. Moreover, whatever the development and progress of the nation says, statistics are associated with everything. Plan also requires a balanced development of people. Now the development plan is taken considering the aspects of the global statistics.

And the English word 'statistics' in statistics has probably originated from the Latin word statisticum collegium, Italian word statista or German word statistik. The words 'status' and 'statistik' means state and 'statista' means the functions of the state. This indicates that statistics originated from the management of the state. It was used for calculations of various information of the state such as population, quantity of states, birth deaths.

There are mainly two terms in the word English 'Statistics' in Bengal. Prashant Chandra Mahalanbish, known as the father of statistics in India, made the English of English 'Statistics'. On the other hand, Kazi Motahar Hossain, the father of statistics in Bangladesh, created a new word called 'Statistics' as a terminology of English 'Statistics'. In the list published in the 21st, the International Statistics Agency recognizes the word 'Statistics'.

This is expected that the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics will perform its duty properly in the coming days. That is why the independence of the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics must be ensured. Here you have to recruit skilled manpower. They need to create such a favorable environment so that they can be influenced by anyone without being influenced by anyone. We want to get the right information, no matter what. We have to remember that the right plan can never be made based on false information. And if the proper plan is not prepared, development is not possible.

In some cases, problems arise in information. As a result, the figures that are made in these issues are not considered 100 percent correct. For example, it is very difficult to get accurate data on all these matters, how much money is being inserted into the mainstream economy through money laundering or the amount of underground economy. Because those who are associated with money laundering or money laundering, they never publish their money and income formulas to anyone. There is no authority to save the money. So no one can provide exact figures on these issues. However, by analyzing different aspects, it can be guessed how much the depth of the problem is.

We do not get the exact information about the amount of money being smuggled every year from a country. However, some of the sources can only be guessed. Since money laundering, money laundering or black money is immoral, people try to keep them secret. Do not reveal to anyone. Some organizations are saying that the most money is being smuggled through international trade from Bangladesh. Money is being smuggled through over -invoicing and under invoking export of goods during the import of products. No one can say the exact amount of it. However, by verifying the value of different products in the international market, it can be estimated that the amount of money is being trafficked every year and how much money is going abroad in the wake of export. In their report, the white paper formulation committee formed under the initiative of the interim government has mentioned that the US $ 25 billion has been smuggled abroad from Bangladesh in the last five years. The amount of money trafficked can be high. But through this we can guess the depth of the problem. A former World Bank president has said that the money laundering that is worldwide every year is 2 to 5 percent of the world GDP, the amount of money from US $ 1 billion to $ 2 million. These statistics are 100 percent sure, it cannot be said. However, the horrors of money laundering can be estimated.

National Statistics Day is being celebrated for the first time in front of the slogan "Development of Statistics, Smart Bangladesh" simultaneously throughout BangladeshThe responsibility of formulating official statistics on the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics is more important as the Statistics Act-20. Proper statistics accelerate the development and planning of a country. Without proper and quality statistics, the plan adopted for the development of the country is not possible. Since the establishment of the BBS, six (six) people have been performing 3 (four) farms, 3 (three) economic transmissions, one (one) weavers and various surveys. In the future, BBS will play a more important role in development and progress by formulating quality perfect statistics. Therefore, on National Statistics Day, Bangladesh should promise to emphasize the formation of the country and the economy of the country to implement the economy of the country.
