To raise public awareness for the conservation and development of the country’s fisheries resources, National Fish Week 2025 is being celebrated in Tungipara, Gopalganj, through various programs. This year’s theme is “Let’s establish sanctuaries, fill the country with native fish.”
The program was inaugurated on Monday morning with the release of fish fry into the pond of the Upazila Parishad, organized by the Upazila Administration and the Department of Fisheries. Later, a colorful rally was brought out, followed by a discussion meeting. The meeting was presided over by Senior Fisheries Officer Debashish Bachar, with UNO Farzana Akter as the chief guest.
Speakers urged fish farmers to take special initiatives to protect native species of fish.
