The grand inauguration of a Model Mosque and Islamic Cultural Center, blending Islamic values with modern architectural excellence, has been completed in Morelganj, Bagerha on Wednesday.

Mu. A. Awal Howlader, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, officially inaugurated the center on behalf of Dr. A. F. M. Khalid Hossain, Advisor on Religious Affairs.

The event was presided over by Morelganj UNO Md. Habibullah. The Deputy Director of the Islamic Foundation, Bagerhat District Office, Md. Zakir Hossain, delivered the welcome speech. Among the guests were Md. Mominur Rahman, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Bagerhat, and Major Badruddoza, Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Morelganj Upazila. A special prayer and supplication were led by Dr. Md. Ruhul Amin Khan, Principal of Latifiya Fazil Madrasa.

Under the supervision of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Islamic Foundation, this aesthetically pleasing Model Mosque has been built to promote Islamic education, research, and cultural development for the 2023-2025 period. The mosque is located near the Nabboirshi Bus Stand in Morelganj Municipality.

Constructed as part of the "Establishment of 560 Model Mosques and Islamic Cultural Centers in Every District and Upazila (2nd Phase)" project, this three-story modern facility has been completed at an estimated cost of Tk 15 crore under the supervision of the Public Works Department. The Model Mosque is expected to open new avenues for religious and cultural activities.

With this inauguration, operations have officially begun for 50 more Model Mosques across the country this month, marking a new milestone in the national pursuit of Islamic knowledge and enlightenment.
