The construction of the new building of Kadomshree Dakhil Madrasa in Madan upazila of Netrokona has not been completed even after 7 years. As a result, the teachers and students are suffering.

The contractor has been occupying the playground and several classrooms with building materials for the last 7 years, depriving the students of playing and studying. This is the scenario that was seen on the spot on Wednesday and mixed reactions have been expressed about this by the students, parents and locals.They claim that the superintendent and the committee members of the madrasah have given the contractor opportunities by taking illegal benefits. It has even been alleged that low-quality materials were used in the construction of the building.

When the madrasah authorities were contacted about such allegations, they said that the allegations of taking advantages from the contractor are not true. The contractor is threatening us by showing the power of the Awami League. However, the quality of the work has deteriorated somewhat.

The contractor's representative, Sujat Hossain, said that the construction period has been extended. He denied the allegation of using low-quality materials. When asked about the occupation of the playground and classrooms, he dodged the question and left the madrasah area on the pretext of talking on the mobile phone.

Shah Alam, the sub-assistant engineer of the Netrokona Education Engineering Department, said that a contract was awarded to a contracting firm named Mamun Saikat in 2018 to construct a four-story building at a cost of Tk 3 crore 97 lakh in Kadomshree Dakhil Madrasah.

According to the contract, the deadline for completion of the building was December 2023. There is a slight problem with this contractor's work. Despite repeated urgings, the work has not been completed yet. The matter has been brought to the notice of the higher authorities.
