A protest march and protest meeting have been held by professional media men in Khagrachari demanding the brutal killing of journalist Asaduzzaman Tuhin in broad daylight in Gazipur and his prompt arrest and trial.

The protest meeting was held in front of the Khagrachari Press Club on Friday  at around 11 am.

Earlier, a protest march was taken out from the Press Club premises. The procession circled various roads in the city and ended in front of the Press Club.

Khagrachari Press Club President Tarun Kumar Bhattacharya, Vice President Zahurul Alam, General Secretary HM Prafulla, Journalists Union President Shahriar Yunus and other media workers spoke at the protest meeting.

The speakers at the meeting said that the lives of journalists are at extreme risk today. If they reveal the truth, they will face various problems. Extortionists, terrorists, drug dealers and land grabbers are building their kingdoms wherever they can. And the criminal gangs are desperate to shut down those who are taking up the pen against this crime forever. By brutally killing journalist Asaduzzaman Tuhin, the perpetrators have once again proven their naked attack on the media and free thought. The murder of a journalist means the stifling of the voice of a society. The foundation of journalism will be destroyed. The freedom of the media will be destroyed. The rights and justice of the people will be destroyed. If those involved in this barbaric murder are not arrested quickly and given exemplary punishment, otherwise, the media workers expressed their determination to go on a stricter movement and called for maintaining freedom of expression.

At this time, journalists from Khagrachari Press Club, Journalists Union and various Upazila Press Clubs expressed solidarity, as well as journalists from various print and electronic media participated.
