Jashore MP asks Quader, Kamal to apologise

Staff Correspondent

Md Azizul Islam, an independent lawmaker from Jashore, has called on Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader and Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal to apologise to the students in the wake of the recent countrywide unrest centring the quota reform movement.

The lawmaker from the Jashore-6 constituency made the call on his official facebook page Thursday, and also told reporters that he would make the plea before the national parliament.

On his facebook post he wrote, “The way things are progressing, the situation would likely take a long time to normalise. Arresting general students cannot be a solution, and it is illogical to arrest students who have no involvement in political activities.”

Instead the government should first unconditionally free all those students having no political membership. And secondly, the government should work towards sustainably pacifying the students by arranging a dialogue for bringing back the environment suitable for education at different institutions.”

Despite all the killings Quader and Kamal are yet to express their sorrow to the students. Those responsible must not only be dutiful but also take responsibility for anything going wrong.

“There is nothing wrong in saying sorry to the students for all the young lives lost,” Azizul wrote.
