Important pillars of Islam: How to start the five daily prayers
Dr. Muhammad Mahtab Hossain Mazed
Prayer is one of the five pillars of Islam. It is the second of the five pillars. Prayer is the most important pillar of Islam after faith. Prayers will be counted first on the Day of Judgment.
The word Namaz is of Persian language. And in Arabic it is called Salat. It has to be collected daily on time. It is obligatory for every adult, intelligent man and woman to pray five times a day. In the Holy Qur'an, Almighty Allah says that it is obligatory for the believers to perform the prayer at the appointed time. (Surah Nisa, verse: 103) Almighty Allah also says, And those who are diligent in their prayers are the inheritors of Paradise, who will be the inheritors of Firdaus and they will remain there forever. (Surat al-Mu'minun, verses 9-11).
The manner in which the prayer came has been described in Bukhari Sharif. The famous companion Hazrat Abu Zar (RA)In the hadith narrated from, he narrates on the authority of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, that he said, "When I was in Makkah, the roof of my house was opened." Then Gabriel (A.S.) came and tore my chest open. And wash it with Zamzam water. Then he brought a golden pot full of wisdom and faith and poured it into my chest and closed it. Then he took me by the hand and led me towards the sky of the world. The famous companion Anas (R.A.) said, 'Abu Zar (R.A.) mentioned that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said in the heavens, Adam (A.S.), Idris (A.S.), Musa (A.S.) .), Jesus (A.) He met Ibrahim (a.s.). However, Abu Zar (RA) did not specifically mention those places. He only mentioned that he found Adam (a.s.) in the sky of the world and Ibrahim (a.s.) in the sixth sky.'
Later, when I came to the sky of the world, Gabriel (A.S.) said to the guardian of the sky, open the door. The guardian of the sky said, who are you? Gabriel (A.S.) said, I am Gabriel (A.S.). (Guardian of the sky) said, Is there anyone with you? Jibril (a.s.) said, Yes, Muhammad (p.a.) is there. The guard then said, has he been called? Jibraeel (a.s.) said, yesThen when the sky of the world was opened for us, and we entered the sky of the world, we saw one sitting there with many human figures on his right and left. He laughs when he looks to the right, and cries when he looks to the left. He said, Welcome, O righteous prophet and righteous son. I am Gabriel (A.S.)Who asked, who is this person? He replied, This is Adam (A.S.). On his right and left are the souls of his children. People on the right side are paradise, people on the left side are hell. So looking right he is smiling, looking left crying.
Then Gabriel (A.S.) ascended to the second heaven with me. Then he said to its guard, open the door. Then this guard asked the same question as the first guard. Later the door was opened.
Anas (R.A.) said, 'When Gabriel (A.S.) was passing by Idris (A.S.) with the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, Idris (A.S.) said, "O brother, what a righteous Prophet." I (Rasulullah) said, who is he? Gabriel (a.) said this is Idris (a.).
Then when I passed by Musa (a.s.), he said, "O righteous Prophet and virtuous brother." I said, who is this? Gabriel (A.S.) said, This is Musa (A.S.).
Then when I passed Jesus (A.S.), he said, "O righteous Prophet and virtuous brother." I asked, who is he? Gabriel (A.S.) said, He is Jesus (A.S.). Then when I passed by Ibrahim (a.s.), he said, O pious Prophet and pious son. I said, who is this? Gabriel (a.) He said, this is Ibrahim (a.).
Ibn Shihab said, Ibn Hazm (RA) told me that both Ibn Abbas and Abu Habba Al-Ansari used to say, 'The Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, "After that I was taken higher." Taken to a flat place where I heard writing.'
Ibn Hazm and Anas Ibn Malik (RA) said that the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, Then Allah made 50 prayers obligatory on my ummah. I came back with it. He said to Musa (a.s.) when he passed, What has Allah made obligatory on your Ummah? I said, 50 prayers are obligatory. He said, "Go back to your Lord, your Ummah will not be able to obey so much." I then went back. Allah reduced it somewhat. I said to Musa (a.s.) while crossing, (Allah) has reduced some portion. He said, "Go back to your Lord." Because your Ummah will not be able to earn even that. I went back. Then some more parts were reduced. I went to Musa (a.s.) again. Again he said, you go to your Lord again. Because your Ummah will not be able to pay it. Then I went again. Then Allah said, 'These five (as virtues) will be counted as 50. There is no change in my words.' When I went to Musa (a.s.) again, he said to me again, go to your Lord again. I said, I am ashamed to go to my Lord again. Then Gabriel (a.He took me to Sidratul Muntaha. At that time it was painted in different colors. I was not aware of its significance.”
When prayer is obligatory
Five prayers are obligatory on the night of Meraj. Everyone agrees on this. But there is disagreement about the exact time of that night. Someone said, "Three years before Hijrat. Some say, 'A year ago.' According to some, at the age of 51 years of Rasool (PBUH). Someone said, "It took place after 15 months of Prophethood." (Tafseer Ibn Kasir: 2/3). It takes place during these times.
According to various accounts of Islam, Muhammad (pbuh) received prophethood at the age of 40 in 610 AD and immediately after
Received instructions from Allah to make two daily prayers, morning and evening, fard (compulsory) for Muslims. In 614 AD, he was ordered to pray three times a day, morning, evening and noon. On the 27th Rajab of 619 AD, five daily prayers were ordered to be obligatory during Miraj. It should be noted that at this time Zohar, Asr and Isha were to be read in 2 rakats. In 623 AD, Allah ordered to increase Zuhr, Asr and Isha with 2 rakats to 4 rakats.
_ conditions
Being a Muslim, being a teenager
Being of sound mind (man).
Prayer is valid if the following five reasons are met.
_ If you are sure about the prayer time. If there is uncertainty, there will be no prayer, even if it is at the right time.
_ To stand facing the Kaaba. However, this condition is relaxable for sick and disabled persons.
Satar should be covered. Men's satar is from above the navel to below the knees (above the ankles), while women's satar is the whole body except the face, wrists and feet.
The clothes, body and place of prayer should be clean or pure.
Purity should be achieved through ablution, bath or tayammum.
_ Conditions for acceptance of prayers
To be pure in faith, to be free from polytheism, to be free from innovation, to be free from hypocrisy
Abstaining from haram earnings, fulfilling the obligatory right of creation (Haqqul Ibad) and not destroying the right of the servant.
_ Prayer time and Rakat
Five times a day 17 rakat prayers are obligatory. But this was not the case in the beginning of Islam; Rather, before Meraj there were a total of two daily prayers consisting of two rakats in the morning and evening. Muqatil (RA) said, "At the beginning of Islam, there were two daily prayers, morning and evening." (Tarikhus Salat: 28). After that five prayers are obligatory on the night of Meraj. However, two rakats are kept as before. After the migration to Madinah, the number of rakats was increased. Ayesha (RA) said, 'When the prayer was made obligatory, it consisted of two rak'ahs. After that, the number of rakats of prayer is increased to two rakats.' (Bokhari: 350).
So come on! Realizing the importance of prayer, I try to pray regularly. May Almighty Allah grant us all the grace to pray on time. Ameen.
