
Illegal nets, banned polythene seized in Charfassion

Bangladesh Coast Guard seized illegal fishing nets and banned polythene worth about Tk 145.2 million in Charfassion, Bhola on Friday.
The information was shared through a press release by Coast Guard media officer Lieutenant Commander Harun-or-Rashid on Saturday morning.
According to the press release, based on secret information, a joint operation was conducted from 8 am to 8 pm on Friday by Coast Guard Base Bhola and the Department of Fisheries in the Charfassion market area. During the operation, 10 warehouses in the area were searched, resulting in the seizure of 500,000 meters of new current nets, 500,000 meters of charghera nets, 100,000 meters of mosquito nets, 3,000 pieces of China duari nets, 4 pieces of behundi nets, and 20,000 kilograms of polythene—worth a total of Tk 145.2 million.
Subsequently, the seized nets were destroyed in the presence of the Upazila Fisheries Officer, and the banned polythene was handed over to the Bhola Department of Environment.
To maintain law and order in the country, such operations by the Bangladesh Coast Guard will continue in the future.
