A human chain was organized in Narsingdi by the Bangladesh Kindergarten Oikya Parishad (BIKOP) demanding the inclusion of kindergarten and equivalent schools in the primary scholarship examinations, protesting the circular issued on 17 July 2025.
The event took place on Wednesday in front of Narsingdi Press Club, organized by the Narsingdi District Kindergarten Welfare Association.
Speakers at the human chain included Dr. Ramzan Ali Pramanik, President of the Narsingdi District Kindergarten Welfare Association, and Md. Mujibur Rahman, General Secretary, along with leaders from various upazila-level organizations in Narsingdi district.
The speakers noted that in Narsingdi district alone, there are over 600 kindergarten schools serving approximately 125,000 students, with 6,500 teachers and staff, and 3,000 entrepreneurs or directors. Across Bangladesh, around 50,000 kindergartens provide education to approximately 10 million students, creating employment for 65,000 teachers and 50,000 staff. This highlights the undeniable contribution of non-government primary educational institutions to the primary education sector.
They further emphasized that education is a fundamental right for children, and no child should be deprived of it. The current government, which was established through the sacrifices of many students in the July Uprising against discrimination, must not allow the children of kindergartens to suffer from inequality again.
The speakers demanded that the circular issued on 17.07.25 be revoked and that in the upcoming 2025 primary scholarship examination, as well as in any other programs undertaken for primary education, kindergarten and non-government primary school students be granted equal rights as stakeholders in primary education.
