Four farmers die as train hits in Lalmonirhat

Four farmers were killed in a train accident in Lalmonirhat’s Patgram upazila while they were threshing paddy near the railway tracks.
The incident occurred around 5:30 pm on Monday (Nov 11) in Alauddi Nagar of Baura Union along the Lalmonirhat-Burimari rail route.
The deceased were identified as Azizur Rahman, 60, Mobarak Hossain, 65, Mokbul Hossain, 62 from Islampur area in Jongra Union, and Abdul Wahab, 45 from Islam Nagar.
According to locals, the farmers were working beside the railway track, with some standing close to or on the tracks. Due to the noise from the paddy-threshing machine, they couldn’t hear the approaching train. The Korotowa Express (713/714) coming from Burimari Railway Station hit them, leaving the four farmers severely injured. They were rushed to Patgram Upazila Health Complex, where doctors pronounced them dead.
Confirming the incident, Patgram Railway Station Master Nur Islam said that Lalmonirhat Railway Police Station has been informed, and rail communication remains unaffected.
