Expatriates' initiative: 10 villages connected by wooden bridge over Arial Kha in Madaripur

Mir Emran, Madaripur

People from ten villages cross the Arial Kha river in Sardar Mahmud's Char of Nilkhi Union of Shibchar Upazila of Madaripur by boat.

For several decades, people from about ten villages had to cross through this Arial Kha ghat. The common people, who used to work during the day, used to waste time and suffer a lot in crossing the river.

The suffering of the people of these ten villages came to an end with the initiative of the expatriates. When this matter came to the attention of the expatriates. They took the initiative to build a wooden bridge.

This wooden bridge has been built on the Arial Kha river in the Nilkhi chest of Shibchar Upazila with the funding of the expatriates and the overall cooperation of the locals. Thousands of people gathered on both banks of the river to see the bridge.

After visiting the scene, it was seen that Sardar Mahmudharchar Kheaghat is a remote area of Shibchar Upazila of Madaripur and Bhanga Upazila of Faridpur and the junction of the two upazilas. For a long time, the ghat was used to cross the river and reach about 10 villages in the vicinity, and the people of the village had to go to the market by boat.

Sick patients had to be taken to the hospital quickly, and besides this, children and students also faced inconvenience while going to school and college. If you use the alternative route of the Arial Khan River, you will waste time and suffer. There are necessary facilities for the public, including schools, on both banks of the river. To get the benefits of which, about 20 to 30 thousand people on both banks had to suffer. Finally, with the joint efforts of expatriates and locals, that suffering was put to an end. In the new year, a 600-foot-long wooden bridge was gifted to the villagers.

Expatriates and local youth. People are happy and joyful after receiving the bridge.

The wooden bridge built with the funding of expatriates and locals has been named "Probashi Setu". Its length is 600 feet, width is 3.5 feet. This bridge made of wood and bamboo took 2 months to build and cost over 2 lakh taka.

Sujan Mia, who came to see the bridge, said, "My home is in Nilkhi, I used to cross this river ghat almost every now and then. I used to face various difficulties while crossing. Now we are happy that the bridge is funded by expatriates. The river can be crossed in a short time and the necessary work on the upper reaches can be completed and then we can come back. For this, we thank the expatriates.

Another resident, Md. Masud Rana, said, "I am happy to receive a new gift in the new year. I have never seen such a big wooden bridge before. I think this is the first such big wooden bridge in the district.

On the first day of the year, I heard about the inauguration of the wooden bridge under construction with the help of expatriates and locals and came to see the bridge."

Nilkhi Union BNP President Abdul Rahim Lapti said, "This huge wooden bridge has been built with the initiative of the expatriates and youth of our area with their own funds.

On behalf of the local people, we thank all the expatriates and locals. The construction of the wooden bridge will reduce the suffering of the people of this area."
