Despite massive allegations : Controversial Mujibnagar sub-registrars lobbying to extend job tenure

Special Correspondent

Allegations have surfaced that controversial sub-registrars appointed under the Mujibnagar employee quota have launched a mission to extend their job tenure.

According to reliable sources, despite inconsistencies in their age and date of birth with the timeline of the Liberation War and having various allegations against them, 15 sub-registrars appointed under the special quota have already submitted applications to the Law and Justice Division of the Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs.

Through a syndicate, they are aggressively lobbying to extend their service tenure by one more year.

Those managing this operation are reportedly close associates of senior ministry officials.

As a test case for this mission, files of two sub-registrars have been decided to be presented to the Advisor. They are Md. Manzurul Islam, Sub-Registrar of Lalmohan Upazila in Bhola District, and Osman Gani Mondal, Sub-Registrar of Kapasia Upazila in Gazipur District.

Notes from the proposal file for extending their job tenure, obtained by this reporter, show several justifications for extending the service period of sub-registrars appointed under the Mujibnagar (Freedom fighter) quota. The file has already been signed by the Advisor and sent to the Public Administration Ministry  for opinion.

Sources say a special allocation is in place to secure a favorable opinion, and an active group is working toward this.

It is mentioned  that these sub-registrars have serious allegations against them, including age forgery, poducing fake documents to pose as Mujibnagar employees, rgistering deeds with undervalued land to evade government revenue, registering forged deeds and  registering government land (abandoned, khas, and forest land)

However, mysteriously, none of these issues are mentioned or addressed in the note of the file — rather, they have been kept hidden.

These controversial Mujibnagar sub-registrars were reportedly very close to the fascist government’s law minister, Anisul Huq, because during the Supreme Court case concerning their recruitment, the then-lawyer Anisul Huq was the Advocate-on-Record. Their relationship began during that time, and afterward, they received priority in transfers and benefits. Now they are allegedly trying to cozy up to the current legal advisor.

The attempt to extend the job tenure of these controversial sub-registrars has created significant buzz. A human rights organization named Society for Enforcement of Basic Rights (SEBR) is reportedly gathering detailed information on the issue and will be filing a formal complaint to the law advisor and the ministry secretary.

Other sub-registrars appointed under the Mujibnagar quota include Abul Hossain, Sub-Registrar of Muksudpur, Gopalganj (Retirement: 10/11/2025), Minoti Das, Sub-Registrar of Faridpur Sadar (Retirement: 13/3/2026), Abu Taher Mostafa Kamal, Sub-Registrar of Raozan, Chattogram (Retirement: 29/8/2025), Obaid Ullah, Sub-Registrar of Hathazari, Chattogram (Retirement: 31/12/2025), Abul Bashar, Sub-Registrar of Lakshmipur (Retirement: 30/12/2025),  Swapan Kumar, Sub-Registrar of Mongla, Bagerhat (Retirement: 18/8/2025), Md. Faruq Patwary, Sub-Registrar of Patuakhali Sadar (Retirement: 21/5/2027), Kazi Nazrul Islam, Sub-Registrar of Kalapara, Patuakhali (Retirement: 2/4/2026), Lutfur Rahman of Nilphamari and Rafiqul Islam of Bhola

A source claims these sub-registrars were "integrated" very strategically. Some of them purchased certificates from broker syndicates to falsely portray themselves as Mujibnagar government employees.

At a time when the country’s talented young individuals are struggling to get jobs, these fraudsters are trying to tarnish the sanctity of the Liberation War for their own benefit.

No comments were availabe from the concerned persons  despite attempts to contact them.
