Court sends Mazharul Islam Sujan to jail

A court here today sent Mazharul Islam Sujan, former member of parliament of Thakurgaon-2 constituency, to jail in connection with a case filed over murder, extortion and land grabbing.
The court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Rahima Khatun, Thakurgaon gave the order rejecting the remand prayer this afternoon.
Pro-BNP lawyers protested the order of the court and said that cohorts of ousted Awami League are still working in judiciary.
Earlier, former MP Mazaharul Islam Sujan was arrested from Dhaka on charge of murder, extortion and land grabbing.
The lawyers of BNP and the plaintiff strongly protested this order of the court. Thakurgaon Bar Association President Ed Zainal Abedin Joy and General Secretary Ed Intazul Islam alleged that the cohorts of the fallen Awami dictatorship are still active in the court and working in favour of Awami League.
Meanwhile, the plaintiff of the case, Habibul Islam Bablu, said after purchasing 70 acres of land in the area, ?the former MP grabbed more than half hundred acres of land using influence.
