
Coast Guard seized illegal nets, hilsa worth Tk 7 cr in Munshiganj

The Coast Guard has seized illegal nets and hilsa worth about 7 crore taka in a joint operation in Srinagar, Munshiganj.
This information was given by Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq in a press release on Tuesday morning.
The press release said, based on secret information, a special operation was conducted in the area adjacent to Boyati Char under Srinagar Police Station of Munshiganj from 7 am to 2 pm on Monday.in collaboration with Coast Guard Composite Station Padma, Army, Fisheries Department, Naval Police and Ansar. During the operation, 20 lakh meters of current nets worth about Tk 7 crore 1 lakh 60 thousand taka and 20 kg of hilsa along with 40 pitches of China Duari nets were seized from the said area. At that time, it was not possible to arrest anyone as the fishermen fled after sensing the presence of the joint forces.
The seized nets were destroyed in the presence of the Munshiganj District Fisheries Officer and the hilsa was distributed to local madrasas and orphanages.
