The ‘Mohammad Nasiruddin Literary Award-2024’, initiated by the art and literature organization Sahitya Mancha, Chandpur, is being given to three popular writers of this time. The awards were announced in three categories honoring their efforts in Bengali literary works.

The names of the awards were announced by the president of Sahitya Mancha, poet and translator Mainul Islam Manik. The awardees are poet Shah Bulbul (in poetry), story writer and researcher Nahida Nahid (in fiction) and essayist and researcher Dr. Shams Aldeen (in essays and research).

In this context, the president of Sahitya Mancha, Mainul Islam Manik, said that in addition to literary activities, the Sahitya Mancha, an art and literature organization, has introduced a literary award in the name of Mohammad Nasiruddin, a talented child of Chandpur and Saugat editor. We have been giving this award since 2020 in recognition of special efforts in literature. Already, renowned writers Zahid Haider, Masuduzzaman, Prashant Mridha, Faruk Hossain, Sarkar Abdul Mannan, Nasima Anis, Ahmed Riaz, Sheikh Firoz Ahmed, Mansur Aziz, Engineer Delwar Hossain (posthumously) and organizers Kazi Shahadat and Ilias Farooqui have received this award. In continuation of that, the 'Mohammad Nasiruddin Literary Award-2024' was announced today in three categories. We are happy and proud to honor three talented writers and organizers.

Sahitya Mancha General Secretary Ashiq Bin Rahim said, due to the political instability in the country, we could not hand over the 2023 award to the writers on time. Chandpur Literary Conference-2025 will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025, to mark the sixth founding anniversary of Sahitya Mancha. The award will be presented to the honored writer who received the Mohammad Nasiruddin Literary Award in 2023 and 2024 at the Chandpur Literary Conference.

It is worth noting that although the Mohammad Nasiruddin Literary Award for 2023 was announced, it could not be presented to the award-winning writers due to state instability. The award-winning writers for 2023 are poets Mahmud Kamal and Junan Nashit (in poetry), fiction writer Ruma Modak (in fiction), and essayist and researcher Suman Kumar Das (in essays and research).

This year's award-winning writer Nahida Nahid is a storyteller and researcher. Born on July 5, in Chandpur. She has completed her master's degree in Bengali from Jahangirnagar University. She has published four short stories—Alkar Phool [2017], Yuthchari Andharer Golpo [2018], Purushapath [2019] and Bahu Basanter Daag [2023]. He won the ‘Kali O Kalam Tarun Kabi O Lekhak Puraskar 2018’ in the fiction category for the book Yuthchari Andharer Golpo and the ‘Exim Bank Anydin Humayun Ahammed Sahitya Puraskar 2020’ in the new literature category for the book Purushapath. He is currently working as an assistant professor at Comilla University.

Poet Shah Bulbul was born in 1979 in Haimchar Upazila of Chandpur district. He completed his graduation and post-graduation in social work from Jagannath University and chose journalism as his profession. Along with poetry, he writes on topics like editing, contemporary subject-based analysis, discussion and criticism, education and culture like a grain-loving farmer. His first poetry book ‘Nirbasane Yabar Aye’ was published in 2012. The book ‘Khudiramer Katha’ about the revolutionary Khudiram was published in 2013. ‘Mrityuhin Guerilla’ about the revolutionary Ernest Che Guevara was published in 2014. His latest published book of poetry is ‘Mrityu o Nirbasan’, which contains seventy poems.

Essayist and researcher Dr. Shams Aldeen was born in 1982 in Mallikpara, Meherpur district. He completed his post-graduate studies from Rabindra Bharati University, India. He earned his PhD from Jahangirnagar University. He is currently working as an assistant professor in the Department of Bengali at Southeast University. He has written and edited 25 books.

It is worth noting that the names of the awards were announced on Wednesday (January 8) afternoon.
