Case against 21 AL leaders, workers for attacking BNP's joy rally in Betagi

A case has been filed against 21 Awami League leaders and activists for attacking BNP's joyous procession and beating up the leaders and activists at Betagi on August 5 afternoon.

The case was filed by BNP activist Sujan Howlader at Betagi police station on Tuesday night.

In the case, the names of 21 leaders and activists of Betagi Upazila Awami League and its affiliated organizations have been mentioned. Another 150-200 people have been made unidentified accused.

Betagi Upazila Awami League's former organizational secretary B M. Fahria Sangram Aminul, current municipal Awami League President Babul Akhter, the former general secretary of Municipal Chhatra League Rafiqul Islam, General Secretary of Upazila Sramik League Abdul Mannan Howladar, former panel mayor of the municipality and member of Upazila Awami League Masud Khan, Secretary of Sramik Nasir Fakir, Treasurer of Rickshaw Workers Union Saiful Islam Sagar, Vice President of Upazila Swechhasebak League and 21 leaders and activists including Rabbi Hawladar have been accused in the case.

According to the details of the case, BNP leaders and workers held a joyous procession in Betagi town on August 5, as former Prime Minister Sheikha Hasina resigned and left the country. At that time the accused armed with indigenous weapons attacked them and detonated cocktails. Two workers named Imran and Rezaul Karim were injured.

OC of Betagi police station. Mahabubur Rahman said, no one has been arrested in this incident yet." The police have started an operation to arrest the accused.
