Bridge collapses in Kalapara : People of 5 villages suffering

The Iron Bridge, which locals known as Shadhur Bridge, built ovet the Baraharpara Canal in the middle of Mombipara village in Latachapali Union of Kalapara Upazila of Patuakhali collapsed and fell into the canal on Sunday at around 11 am.
The bridge collapsed when a cargo truck was trying to cross. Due to the collapse of the bridge, the people of the tourist including 5 villages have suffered greatly.
According to local sources, the bridge was built in 2005. The bridge was wobbly for two years and was not repaired. People of 5 villages including Mombipara, New Bazar, Baraharpara, Paurghoja villages of Latachapali union travel through this bridge every day. It was the only easy way for tourists visiting Kuakata to visit the Misripara Buddhist Temple. The entire part of the 80 feet long and 10 feet wide bridge has collapsed and is lying in the canal.
Local Shukhdev Saidyal said, We have been crossing this shaky bridge for two years. However, due to the complete destruction of the bridge, there will be many problems in traffic now. Students will have many problems going to school. Sick patients will suffer greatly. Therefore, I am drawing the attention of the higher authorities, so that the people of 5 villages, including tourists, can be transported by building a new bridge very quickly.
Kalapara UNO Md. Jahangir Hossain said, after inspecting the ground, action will be taken quickly.
