
Body of Awami League worker recovered from pond in Companiganj

The body of an Awami League worker named Md. Jasim Uddin (48) has been recovered from a pond in Companiganj upazila of Noakhali.
His body was sent to Noakhali General Hospital for an autopsy on Monday (Oct 13) morning, police said.
Earlier, on Sunday night, 10 hours after he went missing, locals recovered his body from a pond next to his abandoned house in Ward No. 4 of Mushapur Union of the upazila. Jasim was the son of the deceased Faiz Ahmed of Faraji Bari of that union and an active worker of the Awami League, confirmed Ayub Ali, the president of that union's Awami League.
According to local and police sources, Jasim was the caretaker of Shaheen Ukil's abandoned Mia's house next to his house. When he left his house on Sunday morning and did not return, his family and relatives did not find him and went to search for him in the abandoned house at night and found his body floating in the pond. Later, the police recovered the body after informing the Companiganj police station.
Companiganj Police Station OC Gazi Muhammad Foujul Azim said his body was recovered and sent to Noakhali General Hospital for autopsy on Monday morning.
