A discussion meeting was organized by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in Kalaroa Upazila, Satkhira, to prevent border crimes, protect the border, stop border killings, curb smuggling, prevent illegal border crossings, and combat trafficking of women, children, drugs, arms, and gold, while raising public awareness.
The meeting took place on Tuesday at 5:00 PM in Bhadiyali Bazaar, under the initiative of the Madra Border Outpost (BOP) of Satkhira Battalion (33 BGB).
During the meeting, Madra BOP Commander Subedar Shah Alam discussed various border-related crimes, including illegal infiltration, smuggling, and trafficking of women and children. He emphasized the harmful effects of drugs to protect the youth and urged locals to remain vigilant. He stated, “BGB maintains a firm stance against drug trafficking, will continue to do so, and will adopt a zero-tolerance policy.”
Local residents Selim Hossain, Shamsur Rahman, and Abdul Latif praised the BGB’s efforts, noting that their operations have significantly impacted the area and their work in preventing smuggling deserves appreciation.
Addressing the villagers, Selim Hossain advised, “If you encounter any unpleasant incidents at the border, spot smugglers, or observe any actions by the BSF, do not take matters into your own hands. Immediately inform the on-duty BGB commander.” He urged everyone to refrain from engaging in smuggling activities.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of maintaining peace and order in the border area and preventing terrorist activities. Locals were requested to assist the BGB by providing information to prevent illegal border crossings. The attendees were informed about BGB’s relentless efforts and successes in operations against human trafficking, drug smuggling, and other contraband activities.
The local community expressed gratitude for BGB’s tireless duty and success in seizing drugs, human trafficking materials, and other smuggled goods, urging them to continue these efforts. The meeting was attended by local border-area representatives, conscious citizens, and notable individuals.
