Jhalakathi Correspondent
The banned Jhalakati district branch of Chhatra League is trying to become active again on the occasion of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's death anniversary on August 15 in Jhalakati.
On Thursday (August 14) night, posters were put up at various places on behalf of Jhalakati District Chhatra League on the occasion of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's death anniversary. Any time after 10 pm on Thursday, posters were put up on behalf of Jhalakati District Chhatra League on various milestones along the road including BSCIC, Pratap, Boraitala, Bhairabpasha, Shatpakia, Serampur, Amirabad, and other places near Nalchiti Police Station on the Barisal-Jhalakati Regional Highway.
A law enforcement official, who did not want to be identified, said, "No specific information has been received so far about who put up the posters. The matter will be investigated and further action will be taken."
Multiple sources said that these posters were put up in the dark of night. Immediately after the incident, check posts were set up at various important places in the city, including the Jhalokati petrol pump intersection on the Jhalokati-Pirojpur regional highway. Various teams of the district police are also on patrol. Special police surveillance and interrogation of the suspects are also underway.
Jhalokati District BNP member (in charge of the office) Advocate Md. Mizanur Rahman Mubin said, 'The banned Chhatra League is creating panic in the public mind by putting up posters in the dark of night. After the mass uprising, they do not have the courage to hold political programs in public, so they have put up posters in the dark of night "like thieves."
Meanwhile, Abdullah Al Masud Madhu, president of the banned Chhatra League's Jhalakathi district branch, posted a picture of the poster on his personal Facebook profile and wrote, 'On the occasion of the National Mourning Day on August 15, Jhalakathi District Chhatra League has put up posters in various places in Jhalakathi. My sincere thanks and gratitude to those who put up the posters.'
OC of Nalchiti Police Station Md. Abdus Salam said, "The police are patrolling the highways and performing their duties. Maybe someone has put up posters in the dark of night. The matter is being taken seriously. At the same time, efforts are being made to identify those who did this."
