Another major reshuffle in police higher-ups

Staff Correspondent

In another major reshuffle in the police administration, the home ministry has transferred 48 senior officials to different units and attached 16 others to ranges after making them officers on special duty.

The officers include the ranks of deputy inspector general (DIG), additional DIG, and superintendent of police (SP).

Two separate circulars were issued by the Public Security Division under the ministry on Monday.

Upon the order of President Mohammed Shahabuddin, the move was taken for the sake of public interest, according to circulars signed by the division’s deputy secretary, Abu Sayed.

This order will come into effect immediately.

Since the fall of the Sheikh Hasina-led government in the face of the mass uprising, the police administration has undergone changes several times after the interim government took power on 8 August.
