Accused escapes after hacking two policemen in Narsingdi

The accused and his men attacked the police while trying to catch the accused at Raipura in Narsingdi. Arif Rabbani, 32, a police sub-inspector and Alamin, 40, were seriously injured in the attack.
They were rushed to Rajarbagh Police Hospital in critical condition. The attack took place at Jahangir Nagar village in Alipura union of Raipura police station on Tuesday afternoon.
Narsingdi Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) Saheb Ali Pathan said that the police went to his house to arrest the accused Swapan Mia, younger brother of Bachchu member of Jahangir Nagar village. When the police wanted to arrest Swapan Mia, the accused Swapan and his men attacked the police and fled. Police sub-inspector Arif Rabbani and constable Alamin were seriously injured in the incident. They were later rescued and sent to Raipura Health Complex and later to Rajarbagh Police Hospital.
There are several cases against Swapan including robbery. Additional Superintendent of Police Saheb Ali Pathan said that an operation was underway to arrest the accused Swapan Mia and others involved in the attack.
