3 killed in Baniachong clash

Three people were killed in a clash between two sides in Agua village of Mandari union number 13 of Baniachang upazila of Habiganj. This incident took place at Agua Bazar in Union on Thursday afternoon.
At this time, about a hundred people were injured on both sides.
The deceased are Abdul Qadir (25), Siraj Mia (50) and Lilu Mia (40) of Agua village.
This was confirmed by Additional Superintendent of Police (Baniachong Circle) Palash Ranjan Dey. He said that Badir Mia, the defeated UP member candidate, had a long-standing dispute with UP member Sohail Mia of Agua village in Baniachong.
As a result of this, on Thursday afternoon, two supporters of Abdul Qadir and Badir Mia quarreled. At one stage people from both sides clashed with indigenous weapons.
Abdul Qadir and Siraj Mia died on the spot. About a hundred people from both sides were injured in the clash. The injured were rescued and taken to Habiganj Sadar Hospital. Lilu Mia died of serious injuries there.
The Additional Superintendent of Police also said that the police reached the spot and calmed down the situation. However, the situation is stagnant in the area. Additional police have been deployed.
